Dermal fillers, or injectables, are a minimally painful, non-invasive way to smooth skin, enhance contours, and turn back the clock. But with so many on the market, it can be tough to know which dermal filler to choose. The right filler for you depends on what your goals are. We’ve broken down some information on dermal fillers to help you find the right one for you!
For Fuller Lips
A hyaluronic acid filler like Juvéderm or Restylane is ideal for creating fuller lips that look good and feel natural.
For Fine Lines
A filler with a thin hyaluronic acid that can be easily injected into fine lines is ideal for erasing them. Juvederm Volbella or Restylane Silk are a great choices for this, as they are thinner than some other hyaluronic acid injectables.
For Deep Wrinkles
Deep wrinkles and creases need to be treated with thicker injectables, making Juvederm UltraPlus, another hyaluronic acid filler, a good choice.
For Hollow Eyes
Using a dermal filler under the eyes can be challenging because the wrong one can leave a light blue tint on the skin. Restylane L is my filler of choice for this area.
For Fullness in Chin and Cheeks
Juvéderm Voluma was developed specifically to add volume to the face around the chin and the cheeks and is great for creating a subtle and natural look. Sculptra also restores lost volume in the skin. Because it is injected into the deep dermis layer, it provides a significant increase in skin thickness, which can also improve the appearance of folds. These are good options if you want to address sagging skin but don’t want surgery.
For Double Chins and Smooth Jaw Lines
Unlike other injectables that plump the skin up, Kybella is an injectable that actually melts fat away. It’s used to address “submental fullness,” otherwise known as a double chin, and to smooth out the jaw line. It’s a cheaper, less invasive alternative to liposuction.
Talk to Your Dermatologist
There are many injectables on the market and more being developed all the time, so it’s best to talk to your dermatologist about your goals and your options. It is important to know that dermal fillers are not all created the same and some are better than others, depending on the issue you want to correct. As always, ask for before-and-after pictures from anyone you’re contemplating getting fillers from so you can see the results for yourself.
